James Harvy

Founder and Coach

James Harvy is an accomplished actor and dedicated acting coach with a career spanning over 15 years. Classically trained at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), James has worked extensively on stage and screen, continuing to hone his craft and industry expertise under the guidance of renowned mentors such as Aleksi Vellis (Nirvana Street Murders, The Wog Boy), and Robert Galinsky (ex-Disney screenwriter and producer).

On stage, James has performed with esteemed companies such as La Mama and the Australian Shakespeare Company, delivering powerful performances in productions ranging from Romeo and Juliet to Wuthering Heights. His passion for theatre is matched by his on-screen work, where he has appeared in acclaimed productions including The Doctor Blake Mysteries (ABC), Neighbours (Network 10), Superwog (YouTube), and most recently, Netflix’s Territory.

Alongside his extensive professional experience, James holds a diverse set of qualifications, including a Bachelor of Dramatic Art, a Diploma of Film and Television, and an Honours degree in Psychology. James is also a certified Transcendental Meditation practitioner.

James founded Paper Street Acting Studio to combine his passion for storytelling with his dedication to empowering actors. His approach is grounded in helping performers bring authenticity, spontaneity, and humanity to their work, drawing from his own experiences on stage and screen.

Through Paper Street, James aims to equip actors with the tools and techniques needed to succeed in the industry while fostering a supportive environment for personal growth and creative exploration.
